Warlock Class Runes and Discovery Locations - Season of Discovery

Symbols featured in the Season of Discovery function as an additional element to enhance the equipment of Warlocks. This allows them to acquire both passive and active abilities, thereby expanding the functionality of the Warlock class within the game. These symbols embody skills introduced in later expansions of World of Warcraft, as well as new features inherent in their essence.

Season of Discovery Phase 2 Warlock Runes

Grimoire of Synergy Rune

Grimoire of Synergy – Recite from a dark tome, granting damage done by you or your summoned demon a 5% chance to increase the damage done by the other by 5% for 15 sec. Recitation lasts 30 min.

Where to find:

Begin in The Barrens. At level 30, you'll receive a mail directing you to return to the Warlock camp, located at /way 49.2 57.2. Speak with Raszel Ander to receive the quest "A Solid Foundation". Additionally, you'll be provided with an Invisibility Potion.

Travel to Bough Shadow in Ashenvale, near the Ysondre World Boss area. Utilize the Invisibility Potion to sneak past two level 60 Elite Emeraldon Tree Warder. Search for a lootable tree called the Bough of Shadows (multiple spawn points exist, such as /way 92.8 35.6) and loot the Bough of Shadows.

Return to Raszel Ander with the Bough of Shadows. Beware, as you will suffer the ough of Shadows debuff, causing stacking shadow damage over time that will eventually kill you. Mitigate this damage with Shadow Ward and Healing. Note that the damage scales with your maximum health, so avoid resurrection sickness to minimize your deaths.

Obtain the quest "Soul Vessel" from Raszel Ander. This quest requires you to acquire a Soul Vessel, crafted by Engineering (205).

Obtain the Schematic: Soul Vessel from Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics, available at Honored reputation.

Craft the Soul Vessel using 4x Shadowgem, 1x Demonic Figurine, and 1x Black Vitriol. Shadowgem is commonly obtained from low-level mobs and mining, while Demonic Figurines can be purchased from various Reagent vendors. Black Vitriol is a rare drop from high-level mining.

Once you have the Soul Vessel, head to Mannoroc Coven in southern Desolace, located at /way 54 80. Turn in the Soul Vessel quest, and you'll finally receive the Grimoire of Synergy Rune.

Invocation Rune

Invocation – Refreshing Corruption, Immolate, Curse of Agony, or Siphon Life when it has less than 6 seconds duration remaining will cause you to deal instant damage to the target equal to the spell's remaining periodic damage.

Where to find:

Head to Stormgarde Keep in Arathi Highlands, situated around (/way 27.0 62.6). Inside the keep, your objective is to defeat Syndicate Conjuror.

Continue battling Syndicate Conjurors until you have looted 10 Conjuror's Pendant from them.

Once you have collected the 10 Conjuror's Pendants, locate the Voidwalker Minion within Stormgarde Keep. Use the Drain Soul ability on the Voidwalker Minion to acquire the Soul of the Void.

Proceed to the top floor of the house in Stormgarde Keep, marked at coordinates (/way 29.3 63). There, you'll find the Void Prism.

Combine the Soul of the Void with the 10 Conjuror's Pendant using the Void Prism.

After combining the components, a Void Seeker will spawn. Engage and defeat the Void Seeker to obtain the Invocation Rune.

Shadow and Flame Rune

Shadow and Flame – Your critical strikes with Fire and Shadow spells increase your Fire and Shadow damage done by 10% for 10 sec.

Where to find:

Desolace:

Commence your journey by obtaining the "Highway Robbery" quest in Desolace. Locate an Extinguished Campfire northwest of the Kodo Graveyard, marked at coordinates /way 47 54.

Proceed to /way 63 39, near Kormek's Hut in Desolace. Deliver the "Highway Robbery" quest to Bibbly F'utzbuckle and acquire the quest "On the Lam."

Booty Bay:

Travel to the inn in Booty Bay. Present "On the Lam" to Tokal and accept the quest "Cherry for Your Thoughts?". Purchase Cherry Grog from Nixxrax Fillamug nearby for 3 gold and 40 silver. Upon completion, Tokal will assign you the next quest, "No Honor Among Thieves."

Arathi Highlands:

Locate a Rowboat situated under the bridge between Arathi Highlands and the Wetlands, approximately around /way 53 91 on the Arathi Highlands map. Interact with the Rowboat to teleport to the eastern shore, positioned around /way 93 71.

Locate Illari Duskfeather and engage in conversation. For most races, you'll be presented with two equally hostile dialogue options. Choose one, prompting Illari Duskfeather to engage in combat. Defeat her, retrieve the Dropped Pouch, and loot Illari's Key from it. Open Illari's Loot Cache to obtain the Jewel-Encrusted Box, then unlock this box to retrieve the Rune.

For Night Elves, a peaceful third dialogue solution is available. Choosing this option will result in Illari Duskfeather giving Night Elves Illari's Key, allowing them to access Illari's Loot Cache without engaging in combat.

Dance of the Wicked Rune

Dance of the Wicked – You and your demon pet gain dodge chance equal to your spell critical strike chance each time you deal a critical strike to an enemy, and also both regain 2% of maximum mana.

Where to find:

Warlocks must locate and interact with a Reckless Warlock to acquire the Brimstone Carving.

Known spawn locations for the Reckless Warlock are:

Stranglethorn Vale: Look inside the Gurubashi Arena, situated on the western side around coordinates /way 30.8 47.0.

Thousand Needles: Keep an eye out near the Singed Highperch Consort, approximately around /way 10, 40.

Desolace: Search in the area with numerous Satyr mobs, near coordinates /way 74.8 13.2.

Alterac Mountains: Find it in the rear of an Ogre cave, positioned around /way 54.4 49.6.

Once you've obtained the Brimstone Carving, Warlocks must use Hellfire to inflict damage upon themselves. This action has a random chance of transforming the Brimstone Carving into the Rune of Wickedness.

Demonic Knowledge Rune

Demonic Knowledge – Increases your spell damage and healing by a value equal to 10% of your Demon pet's total Stamina plus Intellect.

Where to find:

Begin your journey by traveling to Deadwind Pass and seek out the Dalaran Agent stationed at Ariden's Camp, pinpointed at coordinates (/way #1430 52 35). Upon interaction, the Dalaran Agent will provide you with Ariden's Sigil.

Equip Ariden's Sigil, or accompany another player who possesses it, and proceed to locate and eliminate seven Dark Rider Elites. Trigger the ability "Reveal Dark Rider" using Ariden's Sigil, which will unveil these elusive adversaries. Look out for the telltale sign of their presence indicated by the "Dark Presence" buff.

Deadwind Pass: (/way #1430 43 29) - Drops Curious Dalaran Relic.

Duskwood: (/way #1431 23 47) - Drops Glittering Dalaran Relic.

Swamp of Sorrows: (/way #1435 69 28) - Drops Odd Dalaran Relic

Arathi Highlands: (/way #1417 60 40) - Drops Whirring Dalaran Relic

Badlands: (/way #1418 58 54) - Drops Slippery Dalaran Relic

The Barrens: (/way #1413 52 36) - Drops Heavy Dalaran Relic

Desolace: (/way #1443 65 25) - Drops Creepy Dalaran Relic.

Upon collecting all seven Dalaran Relics, return to the Dalaran Agent to turn in each relic for experience and a silver reward. At maximum level, each turn-in rewards 150 experience.

Once you've returned all seven Dalaran Relics, the Dalaran Agent will offer "A Service to Dalaran," which rewards a Supply Bag containing the coveted Rune of Forbidden Knowledge.

Shadowflame Rune

Shadowflame – Targets in a cone in front of the caster take (64 */ 100) Shadow damage and an additional (24 * 4 */ 100) Fire damage over 8 sec. This effect can be consumed with Conflagrate.

Where to find:

Journey to Shadowbreak Ravine, located in the southeastern corner of Desolace. Begin your path at coordinates /way 79.7 82.7. The Sacrificial Altar is situated within the ravine, specifically at coordinates /way 81.4 79.8.

Prepare yourself by casting Shadow Ward before interacting with the Sacrificial Altar. Engaging with the altar initiates the Shadow Ritual of Sacrifice, inflicting lethal Shadow damage over 5 seconds. Note that you cannot be healed while channeling the Sacrificial Altar.

Successfully completing the channeling ritual will summon Seductress Ceeyna, a level 38 Elite succubus.

Engage and defeat Seductress Ceeyna to obtain the Shadowflame Rune.

Season of Discovery Phase 1 Warlock Runes

How to Acquire Haunt in Season of Discovery

Haunt – Unleashes a ghostly soul, dealing damage to the enemy.

• Increases all Shadow damage over time to the target by 20%.
• When Haunt ends or is dispelled, you are healed for all the damage dealt.

Where to find:

Orc: Level 2 Quest Stolen Power from Nartok in Durotar (40.6 68.4).

Undead: Level 2 Quest The Lost Rune from Maximillion in Tirisfal (30.8 66.2).

Human: Level 2 Quest Stolen Power from Drusilla La Salle in Northshire, Elwynn Forest (50 43).

Gnome: Accept the Level 2 Quest Stolen Power from the Warlock Trainer and loot the chest at (26,72) to obtain Haunt.

Chaos Bolt Rune

Chaos Bolt – Sends chaotic fire bolt at the enemy, dealing Fire damage.

Always hits, cannot be resisted, and causes Fire spells to pierce absorption effects.

High chance to be resisted against monsters 4 or more levels above you.

Where to find:

Undead: Locate the Frozen Murloc on the northwest side of the great lake in Tirisfal at (66 40). Cast fire spells on the Murloc to thaw it, and it will drop Chaos Bolt.

Orc: Find the Frozen Makrura in Durotar at (59 45). Thaw it by having multiple Warlocks and/or Mages cast fire spells. It will then drop Chaos Bolt.

Human: Discover a Frozen Murloc at Stone Cairn Lake in Elwynn Forest. Thaw it using multiple Warlocks and/or Mages casting fire spells. It will drop Chaos Bolt.

Gnome: Find the Frozen Trogg in the Gol’Bolar Quarry in Dun Morogh at (69 58). Thaw it using multiple Warlocks and/or Mages casting fire spells. It will drop Chaos Bolt.

Demonic Grace Rune

Demonic Grace – Surges with fel energy.

• Increases pet's and your own dodge chance by 30%.
• Increases chance to critically strike with all attacks by 30%.
• Lasts 6 sec.

Where to find:

Human: Collect Ominous Tome from Kobolds in Jasperlode Mine, Gnoll Blood from Gnoll mobs, and Wolf Jawbone from Wolf or Prower mobs. Use the items in a summoning circle at the Slaughtered Lamb Inn in Stormwind City to summon a demon. Kill Soboz to obtain Demonic Grace.

Orc: Obtain Ominous Tome from Voodoo Troll in Echo Isles, Makrura Leg from Makrura mobs, and Kul Tiran Skull from Kul Tiran mobs at Tiragarde Keep. Use the items in a summoning circle near Zalazane in Durotar to summon a demon. Kill Soboz to obtain Demonic Grace.

Undead: Obtain Ominous Tome from Skeleton mobs in Agaman’s Mill, Gnoll Blood from Gnoll mobs in Garren’s Haunt, and Wolf Jawbone from Darkhound mobs. Use the items in a summoning circle in the sewers in Undercity to summon a demon. Kill Soboz to obtain Demonic Grace.

Gnome: Acquire Ominous Tome from Frostmane Shadowcaster in the cave west of Brewnall, Wendigo Blood from Wendigo mobs, and Wolf Jawbone from Wolves. Use the items in a summoning circle in Shimmer Ridge to summon a demon. Kill Soboz to obtain Demonic Grace.

Demonic Tactics Rune

Demonic Tactics – Increases melee and spell critical strike chance of you and your pet by 10%.

Where to find:

For Alliance, loot Dead Acolyte near Jasperlode Mine in Elwynn Forest (57 57). Visit the Warlock trainer in Goldshire, use Powerless Artifact, and get Demonic Tactics from Gakin the Darkbinder in Stormwind (25 78) within 10 minutes.

For Horde, loot Dead Acolyte near the Scarlet Monastery in Tirisfal (77 44). Soul Siphon Rune

Soul Siphon – Increases Drain Life and Drain Soul spells by an additional 6% for each Warlock Shadow effect on the target, up to a maximum of 18% additional effect.

Unlock Soul Siphon by using Drain Soul (trained at level 10) through the following steps based on your race:

Human: Drain Soul on a critter to get Pure Soul Shard. Drain Soul on Hogger to get Tainted Soul Shard. Bring both shards to Damien Kane in the basement of the Goldshire Inn in Elwynn Forest (44 66) to receive Soul Siphon.

Orc: Drain Soul on a critter to get Pure Soul Shard. Drain Soul on Gazz'uz to get Tainted Soul Shard. Bring both shards to Darmak Bloodhowl in Razor Hill (55 41) to receive Soul Siphon.

Undead: Drain Soul on a critter to get Pure Soul Shard. Drain Soul on Maggot Eye to get Tainted Soul Shard. Bring both shards to Denton Bleakway in Undercity to receive Soul Siphon.

Gnome: Drain Soul on a critter to get Pure Soul Shard. Drain Soul on Captain Beldd to get Tainted Soul Shard. Bring both shards to Gaklik Voidtwist in Kharanos in Dun Morogh (47 54) to receive Soul Siphon.

Master Channeler Rune

Master Channeler – Drain Life is no longer channeled, lasts 15 sec with a 15 sec cooldown.

• Costs 100% more mana and heals for 50% more each time it deals damage.

Where to find:

Gnome: Buy Malevolent Pie from Greishan Ironstove in Loch Modan (27.3 61.9). Eat Malevolent Pie to get the rune.

Orc: Siphon your own health with Health Funnel on the Altar of Thorns in the Barrens (58 27). When reaching 0 health, you are fully healed and receive Master Channeler.

Undead: Cast Curse of Recklessness on Sadistic Fiend and kill the mob in a cave in the east of Silverpine Forest (56 45).

Human: Get it as a drop from Dark Strand Fanatic in Darkshore around (57 25).

Shadow Bolt Rune

Shadow Bolt Volley – Shadow Bolt now strikes up to 5 targets within a chain distance of 10 yards. Deals 20% reduced damage.

Where to find:

Darkshore:

Cast Drain Soul on Delmanis the Hated during The Blackwood Corrupted.

Loch Modan:

Kill Demonic Remains in Loch Modan (around 72 69) with a shadow spell. 

This spawns a demon that drops Shadow Bolt Volley.

Westfall:

Cast Drain Soul on Old Murk-Eye on the coast of Westfall. You will receive Soul of the Sea. Use Soul of the Sea on the Medusa Statue (26,70). A level 20 NPC spawns that drops Shadow Bolt Volley.

The Barrens:

Cast Drain Soul on Supervisor Lugwizzle in the Barrens. You will receive Soul of Greed. Go to the spot at 57 10. There is a Hungry Idol there. Use Soul of Greed on it and you will get Shadow Bolt Volley.

Silverpine Forest:

Kill Ravenclaw enemies in Beren’s Peril in Silverpine Forest until Tortured Soul drops. Use Life Tap then Tortured Soul to summon a level 20 mob. Kill the enemy to get Shadow Bolt Volley.

Lake of Fire Rune

Lake of Fire – Rain of Fire leaves a Lake of Fire, increasing Fire damage by 40% for 15 sec.

Where to find:

Purchase Demolition Explosives from Zixil who is traveling on the main road in the Hillsbrad Foothills. Go to Durnholde Keep. Use Demolition Explosives in the Rubble pile at (80 41). You will find a chest containing Lake of Fire.

Incinerate Rune

Incinerate – Burns the enemy.

• Increases all Fire damage you deal by 25% for the next 15 sec.

Where to find:

Drops from Level 23 Elite Orc Incinerator Gar'im in Redridge Mountains. You can find him in a cave in the southeast of the area, around (77 85).

Metamorphosis Rune

Metamorphosis – Transforms into a Demon.

• Increases Armor by 500%.
• Reduces the chance of being critically hit by 6%.
• Increases threat by 50%.
• Doubles mana gained from Life Tap.
• Alters functionality of abilities and grants new ones.

Searing Pain:

• Becomes instant.

Shadow Bolt:

• Transforms into Shadow Cleave, a melee attack hitting up to 3 nearby enemies.
• Has a 6 sec cooldown.

Fear:

• Replaced with Menace.
• Taunts the target to attack you, but has no effect if the target is already attacking you.

Demon Charge:

• Charges an enemy, stunning it for 1 sec.
• Cannot be used in combat.

Demonic Howl:

• Forces all nearby enemies to focus attacks on you for 6 sec.

Where to find:

1. Get The Orb of Soran'ruk quest from Doan Karhan in South Barrens (/way 49, 57). Collect 3x Soran'ruk Fragment and 1x Large Soran'ruk Fragment.
2. Soran'ruk Fragment drops from Twilight Acolyte found outside Blackfathom Deeps or inside the raid. Large Soran'ruk Fragment is dropped by Shadowfang Darksoul inside Shadowfang Keep.
3. Accept the follow-up quest Rumors Abound, directing you to find the Orb of Des in Redridge Mountains and the Bough of Altek in Darkshore.
4. Loot the Orb of Des at the top of the Tower of the Ilgalar and the Bough of Altek at the top of the Tower of Althalaxx.
5. Accept the follow-up quest The Conjuring, requiring you to loot 10x Blood of the Legion.
6. Find Blood of the Legion by defeating creatures at Felfire Canyon in southeastern Ashenvale.
7. After obtaining the blood, interact with the altar near the Grommash Hellscream obelisk to summon demons. Defeat them using Drain Soul while in the purple rune on the ground.
8. Defeat the final Searing Infernal to summon the Mysterious Traveler, who offers the Mysterious Traveler quest.
9. Return to the Barrens, turn in the quest, and receive the final step, Raszel Ander, to obtain the Rune.

Demonic Pact Rune

Demonic Pact – Pet's critical strikes apply Demonic Pact to party members.

• Increases spell damage and healing by 10% of your spell damage or (Level / 2), whichever is higher.
• Does not work on Subjugated demons.

Where to find:

Complete three level 20 quests, that are acquired from Grizzby in the Inn in Ratchet, Barrens. The quests involve collecting 24xFish Oil(Murlocs and Naga mobs), 20xDark Iron Ordinance(Dark Iron dwarves in Wetlands), and 16xShredder Turbocharger(crafted by Engineers).

Everlasting Affliction Rune

Everlasting Affliction – Certain spells refresh duration of Corruption on the target back to its maximum duration.

Obtain Rune of Everlasting Affliction by turning in Supply Shipments for reputation in the Season of Discovery:

Alliance: Purchase from the Azeroth Commerce Authority faction for 4 Gold 50 Silver once Honored has been achieved.
