Hunter Class Runes and Discovery Locations - Season of Discovery

Runes within the Season of Discovery act as an extra component to improve the gear of Paladins, enabling them to acquire a combination of passive and active abilities. This broadens the functionality of the Paladin class within the game. These Runes represent abilities introduced in later expansions of World of Warcraft, along with new features inherent in their essence.

Season of Discovery Phase 2 Hunter Runes

Expose Weakness Rune

Expose Weakness – Your melee and ranged criticals increase your attack power by 40% of your current Agility for 7 sec.

Where to find:

Kill Dustbelcher Ogre in Badlands until you get a Primitive Drawing drop.

Obtain the Terror of the Desert Skies quest from the Primitive Drawing.0

Turn in the quest to Hemet Nesingwary in Stranglethorn Vale.

Accept the follow-up quest with the same name from Hemet Nesingwary.

Receive the Empty Bait Cage from Hemet Nesingwary.

Capture a critter in Badlands using the Empty Bait Cage.

Return to Badlands and find the Large Nest in the southwestern part of the zone.

Use the captured critter as bait on the Large Nest to lure down Gharrik, a level 40 bird.

Kill Gharrik and loot the Crimson Trophy Quill.

Return to Hemet Nesingwary in Stranglethorn Vale and deliver the Crimson Trophy Quill.

Turn in the Terror of the Desert Skies quest to Hemet Nesingwary to receive the Rune of Expose Weakness.

Melee Specialist Rune

Melee Specialist – Raptor Strike cooldown reduced to 3 sec and is now instant, Mongoose Bite cooldown removed, and Raptor Strike has a 30% chance on each attack not to trigger its cooldown.

Where to find:

Begin your journey by traveling to Deadwind Pass and seek out the Dalaran Agent stationed at Ariden's Camp, pinpointed at coordinates (/way #1430 52 35). Upon interaction, the Dalaran Agent will provide you with Ariden's Sigil.

Equip Ariden's Sigil, or accompany another player who possesses it, and proceed to locate and eliminate seven Dark Rider Elites. Trigger the ability "Reveal Dark Rider" using Ariden's Sigil, which will unveil these elusive adversaries. Look out for the telltale sign of their presence indicated by the "Dark Presence" buff.

Deadwind Pass: (/way #1430 43 29) - Drops Curious Dalaran Relic.

Duskwood: (/way #1431 23 47) - Drops Glittering Dalaran Relic.

Swamp of Sorrows: (/way #1435 69 28) - Drops Odd Dalaran Relic

Arathi Highlands: (/way #1417 60 40) - Drops Whirring Dalaran Relic

Badlands: (/way #1418 58 54) - Drops Slippery Dalaran Relic

The Barrens: (/way #1413 52 36) - Drops Heavy Dalaran Relic

Desolace: (/way #1443 65 25) - Drops Creepy Dalaran Relic.

Upon collecting all seven Dalaran Relics, return to the Dalaran Agent to turn in each relic for experience and a silver reward. At maximum level, each turn-in rewards 150 experience.

Once you've returned all seven Dalaran Relics, the Dalaran Agent will offer "A Service to Dalaran," which rewards a Supply Bag containing the coveted Rune of Close Combat.

Steady Shot Rune

Steady Shot – Requires Ranged WeaponA steady shot that causes 60% ranged weapon damage.

Where to find:

Head to Witherbark Village lake in Arathi Highlands, near coordinates /way 66 60.5.

Locate Needletooth, a formidable fish in the lake.

Defeat Needletooth to loot the Rune of Steady Shot.

Dual Wield Specialization Rune

Dual Wield Specialization – Increases the damage done by your offhand weapon by 50%, causes your Raptor Strike to strike with both weapons when you are dual-wielding, and Raptor Strike deals 30% increased damage when you are wielding two weapons of the same type.

Where to find:

Head to Stranglethorn Vale and go to coordinates /way 31.8 15.7, southwest of the Nesingwary camp.

Upon arriving at the specified location, you'll receive a Danger! buff.

Use Flare to reveal the Bloodscalp Guerrilla.

Once you've located the Bloodscalp Guerrilla, defeat it to loot the Rune of the Scrapper.

Invigoration Rune

Invigoration – When your pet scores a critical hit with a special ability, you instantly regenerate 5% of your maximum mana.

Where to find:

Visit Amaryllis Webb in Swamp of Sorrows and purchase an Entomology Starter Kit for 50 silver.

Head to Stranglethorn Vale and catch an Arbor Tarantula at the Lake Nazferiti logging camp to obtain an Arbor Tarantula Specimen.

Travel to Arathi Highlands and catch a Hay Weevil near any of the farms in the zone to obtain a Hay Weevil Specimen.

Journey to Desolace and catch a Flesh Picker at the Kodo Graveyard to obtain a Flesh Picker Specimen.

Return to Amaryllis Webb in Swamp of Sorrows and present the collected specimens. You'll receive the Rune of Invigoration as a reward for your bug-hunting prowess.

Trap Launcher Rune

Trap Launcher – Your Traps can now be placed at any location within 35 yards, and can be placed while you are in combat. Additionally, your Fire-based and Frost-based traps now have separate shared cooldowns.

Where to find:

Desolace:

Commence your journey by obtaining the "Highway Robbery" quest in Desolace. Locate an Extinguished Campfire northwest of the Kodo Graveyard, marked at coordinates /way 47 54.

Proceed to /way 63 39, near Kormek's Hut in Desolace. Deliver the "Highway Robbery" quest to Bibbly F'utzbuckle and acquire the quest "On the Lam."

Booty Bay:

Travel to the inn in Booty Bay. Present "On the Lam" to Tokal and accept the quest "Cherry for Your Thoughts?". Purchase Cherry Grog from Nixxrax Fillamug nearby for 3 gold and 40 silver. Upon completion, Tokal will assign you the next quest, "No Honor Among Thieves."

Arathi Highlands:

Locate a Rowboat situated under the bridge between Arathi Highlands and the Wetlands, approximately around /way 53 91 on the Arathi Highlands map. Interact with the Rowboat to teleport to the eastern shore, positioned around /way 93 71.

Locate Illari Duskfeather and engage in conversation. For most races, you'll be presented with two equally hostile dialogue options. Choose one, prompting Illari Duskfeather to engage in combat. Defeat her, retrieve the Dropped Pouch, and loot Illari's Key from it. Open Illari's Loot Cache to obtain the Jewel-Encrusted Box, then unlock this box to retrieve the Rune.

For Night Elves, a peaceful third dialogue solution is available. Choosing this option will result in Illari Duskfeather giving Night Elves Illari's Key, allowing them to access Illari's Loot Cache without engaging in combat.

Season of Discovery Phase 1 Hunter Runes

Originally in WoW SoD, each class had 12 runes that players could unlock while progressing towards the level cap of 25, which was relevant in the first phase of the Season of Discovery. Here is a comprehensive list of all runes accessible to Hunters back in Season 1 time:

Chimera Shot Rune

Chimera Shot – You deal 100% weapon damage, refreshing the current Sting on your target and triggering an effect:

• Serpent Sting - Instantly deals 40% of the damage done by your Serpent Sting.
• Viper Sting - Instantly restores mana to you equal to 60% of the total amount drained by your Viper Sting.
• Scorpid Sting - Attempts to Disarm the target for 10 sec. This effect cannot occur more than once per 1 minute.

Acquiring Chimera Shot at level 2 in the Season of Discovery is specific to each rac

For Orcs:

• Engage in the Level 2 Quest Hunt for the Rune and eliminate the Scorpid Worker.

For Trolls:

• Participate in the Level 2 Quest Rugged Terrain and defeat the Scorpid Worker.

For Tauren:

• Complete the Level 2 Quest A Hunter's Strength by vanquishing the Bristleback Battleboar.

For Night Elves:

• Conquer the Level 2 Quest A Hunter's Strength and defeat Githyiss the Vile.

For Dwarves:

• Embark on the Level 2 Quest Trek Through the Caves and take down the Frostmane Troll.

Explosive Shot Rune

Explosive Shot – You fire an explosive charge into the enemy target, dealing (Ranged attack power * 0.039 + 36 / 100 *)-(Ranged attack power * 0.039 + 54 / 100 *) Fire damage to all enemies within 8 yards. The charge will deal damage again every second for an additional 2 sec.

Unlock Explosive Shot in your starting zone during the Season of Discovery based on your race:

For Orcs, Trolls:

• Obtain it as a drop from Sarkoth in Durotar (coordinates: 40.6 67.6).

For Tauren:

• Acquire Explosive Shot from Arra'chea in northeast Mulgore.

For Dwarves:

• Secure Explosive Shot by defeating Fyodi in Dun Morogh.

For Night Elves:

• Retrieve it from Rageclaw in Teldrassil (coordinates: 45 57).

Master Marksman Rune

Master Marksman – Increases your critical strike chance by 5%, and reduces the Mana cost of all your Shot abilities by 25%.

Where to find:

For Dwarves, Night Elves, Orcs, Trolls, and Tauren:

• Locate a Rustling Bush in specific coordinates for your race, cast Hunter's Mark, and defeat the spawned enemy to receive Master Marksman.

The Rustling Bush locations:

• Dun Morogh (29 49)
• Teldrassil (46.6 46.3)
• Durotar (38 52)
• Mulgore (59.02 54.38)

Flanking Strike Rune

Flanking Strike – You and your pet deal simultaneous instant 100% melee damage. Afterward, your Mongoose Bite and Raptor Strike deal 10% increased damage for 10 sec, stacking up to 3 times. Raptor Strike has a 20% chance to reset the cooldown on Flanking Strike.

Unlock Flanking Strike in your starting zone based on your race:

For Orcs, Trolls:

• Tame or kill Raluk in Durotar by summoning him at (68.7 71.4) with Durotar Pig Meat.

For Night Elves:

• Acquire it by defeating Mowgh in Teldrassil, summoned at (48.3 31.4) with Teldrassil Bird Meat.

For Tauren:

• Obtain Flanking Strike by defeating Mokwa in Mulgore, summoned at (36,57) with Mulgore Bird Meat.

For Dwarves:

• Receive it by defeating Jorul in Dun Morogh, summoned in a cave at (39 43) with Dun Morogh Pig Meat.

Carve Rune

Carve – A sweeping attack that strikes all enemies in front of you for 50% weapon damage.

Where to find:

Unlock Carve with level 10+ in your starting zone based on your race:

For Orcs, Trolls:

• Use Adder Pheromone, then cast Tame Beast on an Adder. Speak to Razzil in Durotar (52.2 43.8) afterward.

For Dwarves:

• Use Rabbit Musk , then cast Tame Beast on a Rabbit. Speak to Toby in Dun Morogh (63.4 50.2) afterward.

For Night Elves:

• Use Deer Musk, then cast Tame Beast on a Deer. Speak to Relaeron, who’s next to the Hunter trainer in Darnassus.

For Tauren:

• Use Prairie Dog Musk, then cast Tame Beast on a Prairie Dog. Speak to Takoda Sunmane in Bloodhoof, Mulgore (46.2 60.2) afterward.

Beast Mastery Rune

Beast Mastery – Your pet's damage and health are increased by 20%, and its Focus regeneration by 50%. In addition, your pet's Growl now also Taunts the target to attack it for 3 sec.

Where to find:

Unlock Beast Mastery by completing three level 20 quests in the Season of Discovery:

Alliance (Westfall):

• Collect Goretusk Haunch from Goretusk enemies in Westfall.
• Use Goretusk Haunch as bait at (35,38) to summon Silverspur.
• Defeat Silverspur to obtain Beast Mastery.

Alliance (Darkshore):

• Obtain Crab Treats through fishing or drops from Furbolg mobs in Darkshore.
• Feed Crab Treats to Young Reef Crawler to acquire Beast Mastery.

Alliance (Loch Modan):

• In Loch Modan, find Trophy Case in a cabinet inside the building behind Daryl the Youngling (83 65).

Horde (Silverpine Forest):

• Defeat Ferocious Grizzled Bear until Grizzled Protector is summoned.
• Conquer Grizzled Protector to gain Beast Mastery.

Sniper Training Rune

Sniper Training – Your Shot abilities gain 10% increased critical strike chance while you have not moved for the last 6 sec.

Where to find:

To acquire Sniper Training in the Season of Discovery, follow these steps based on your faction:

For Horde:

• Visit Kilxx at the docks in Ratchet located in The Barrens (coordinates: 62.8 38.2).
• Purchase 1x Fishing Harpoon from Kilxx.
• Locate the shark Bruuz in the bay of Ratchet.
• Use the Fishing Harpoon to kill the shark Bruuz.

For Alliance:

Humans:

• Obtain Sniper Training by defeating the Level 17 Elite Defias Scout in Westfall.

Dwarves:

• Sniper Training drops from Elite Crocolisk Kackle around (54 54) in Loch Modan.

Night Elves:

• Pick up the Gnarled Harpoon in Darkshore (coordinates: 40 32) from a Beached Sea Turtle. Note: The harpoons to kill Paxnozz also spawn in the water around where he patrols.
• Take the Gnarled Harpoon to the location and use it to kill Paxnozz.

Cobra Strikes Rune

Cobra Strikes – Your critical hits with Shot abilities cause your pet's next 2 special attacks to critically hit.

Where to find:

Acquire Cobra Strikes in the level 20+ quest zone by purchasing Freshwater Snapper Bait from Zixil in Hillsbrad Foothills, using it on a boat in this area, and defeating a Level 25 Elite turtle Koartul.

Kill Command Rune

Kill Command – Give the command to kill, increasing your pet's damage done from Claw and Bite by 60% for 30 sec.  Each Claw or Bite done by the pet reduces the damage bonus by 20%.

Where to find:

Head to Stonetalon Mountains and locate Jixo Madrocket at coordinates 59.20, 62.41. He assigns the Wild Wyvern Wrangling quest.

To complete the quest, obtain a Hypnotic Crystal and a Gnarled Wand of Wild Magic. Hypnotic Crystal drops from Mutanus the Devourer, the Wailing Caverns final boss.

Craft the Gnarled Wand of Wild Magic by combining a Greater Magic Wand and a Wild Magic Essence, dropped by Furbolgs in Ashenvale, like Foulweald Totemic.

Return with these items to complete the quest and receive the follow-up, Wrangling a Wild Wyvern.

Accompany Jixo Madrocket, observing him as he tames a Wyvern.

Upon completion, you receive the Rune of Kill Command. and the Wyvern Taming Wand.

Heart of the Lion Rune

Heart of the Lion – The hunter invokes the heart of a lion, increasing total stats by 10% for all nearby allies, and increasing total stats for the Hunter by an additional 10%.

Where to find:

Acquire Aspect of the Lion from a level 25 Elite mob in a cave in Wetlands at coordinates 42 64 by defeating the elite owl Carrodin.

Lone Wolf Rune

Lone Wolf – You deal 30% increased damage with all attacks while you do not have an active pet.

Where to find:

To acquire Lone Wolf rune from Grizzby in Ratchet, complete the following pre-quests:

Shredder Turbochargers:

• Collect 16 Shredder Turbocharger by using the Shredder Autosalvage Unit on Venture Co. Shredders in Windshear Crag, Stonetalon Mountains.

Dark Iron Ordinance:

• Gather 20 Dark Iron Ordinance by defeating Dark Iron Insurgent in North Loch Modan or Dark Iron Rifleman and other Dark Iron dwarves in North Wetlands.

Fish Oil:

• Obtain 24 Fish Oil by defeating murlocs in Hillsbrad or Wetlands. Alternatively, you can find these items in the Auction House, as they are commonly available.

Serpent Spread Rune

Serpent Spread – Targets hit by your Multi-Shot are also afflicted by your Serpent Sting for 6 sec.

To get Rune of Serpent Spread during the Season of Discovery, acquire it by turning in Supply Shipments for reputation:

Alliance:

• Purchase Serpent Spread from the Azeroth Commerce Authority faction for 4 Gold 50 Silver once Honored status is achieved.

Horde:

• Acquire Serpent Spread by purchasing it from the Durotar Supply and Logistics faction for 4 Gold 50 Silver once Honored status is achieved.
