SoD Best Gold Farming Methods
Much like in any version of the game, gold is hugely important in SoD. Thus, Season of Discovery gold farm methods are something many people are actively looking for. In this WoW SoD gold farming guide we will discuss a bunch of methods, that have a great potential to make you just that much richer in the world of Azeroth.
Best Gold Farming Methods in WoW SoD
Farming Specific Leatherworking Materials
Deviate Scales and Perfect Deviate Scales are required for crafting one of the best leather belts in Phase 1 of SoD, and thus materials used for it are in high demand. These scales can be found both around and within the Wailing Caverns. Both Horde and Alliance have access to this spot, which means that it is convenient for most players. The perfect version is much more expensive than the regular one, so it is the one you should be looking for the most.
Red Whelp Scales are required for a great pair of gloves, and farming resources for that are also great. Alliance players can kill Red Whelps in Wetlands and auction off the scales for a pretty penny.
If you are up for the challenge, you can farm Murloc Scales from Murlocs located in Dustwallow Marsh, Hillsbrad Foothills, and Stranglethorn Vale. Getting to them is no easy task, and killing them is even more difficult. However, if you can reliably do so, you will discover that selling Murloc Scales is extremely profitable.
Pickpocketing in The Stockade
As you can see from the title, while this SoD gold farming method is extremely good, only rogues can perform it, which limits some of its appeal. However, if you are playing as a Rogue, this gold-farming method is exactly what you are looking for. It is easier to do as an Alliance character for obvious reasons but it can be done as a Horde as well, even if it is much more inconvenient.
Firstly, you will need to get into The Stockade dungeon, which can be located in Stormwind. The next step is to pickpocket mobs in this dungeon. How is this profitable? Let’s see.
Defias Prisoners can be pickpocketed to receive a bunch of loot, but stuff that interests us in particular is:
- Battered Junkbox: This is our bread and butter, since when unlocked it can contain rings with random stats, which can be sold for a solid chunk of money on the auction house. In particular, it can drop these rings: Ivory Band, Coral Band, Jacinth Circle, Clay Ring, and Volcanic Rock Ring. On top of said rings, you can also get Moss Agates, Moonstones, and various crafting recipes, all of which will be sold at the auction house for money.
- Food: Pickpocketing Defias mobs also gives you a bunch of level 25 food, to the point where it will provide you with food for the rest of phase 1, and leftovers can be sold on the AH.
- Healing Potion: This one drops from both the junkbox and normal pickpocketing and with a high chance of that. This is another thing that we will be making a steady income from since Healing Potions are always needed and thus sell rather well.
- Moss Agate and Lesser Moonstone: Even if you can’t sell those on the AH, each one of them costs at least 4 and 6 silver respectively. Meaning that by getting a bunch of them from pickpocketing it will add up fast.
On top of looting everything mentioned above, you will be also getting a bunch of raw copper from each pickpocket.
Another recommendation to consider is to put 2 points into Elusiveness to reduce the cooldown of your Vanish for 1.5 minutes, and 5 points into Camouflage to increase your speed while stealthed to speed up the farming process. Woohoo! You've also found a special promo-code. Use BLOG7 to get 7% OFF on your first boosting service!
With all of this in mind, considering just how easy and chill this method is, it can become one of your main methods of making gold in Season of Discovery.
Opening Raid Chests
This rather low-effort method is all about maximizing gold per hour without having to put in a lot of work. What you want to do is to get a bunch of Skeleton Keys and go into the raid instance. There are 2 treasure chests and about 10 Giant Clam spawns. We will be looting the clams and opening chests with skeleton keys. Every hour clams will respawn, and it takes roughly 7 minutes to run through the dungeon and loot everything.
You have a 1 in 33 chance to loot Iridescent Pearls from giant clams and the green gear you loot from from the chests should be enough to cover the payment for the skeleton keys. If you are a rogue, it is even more profitable. On average, you will get around 5 gold for 7 minute-long run.
Farming Dark Iron Ordinance
Dark Iron Ordinance is a new item that has been added in Season of Discovery. Grinding those is a great SoD gold farming method. You can collect Dark Iron Ordinance from Dark Iron Dwarf elite mobs of level 28 in the northeastern portion of Wetlands. What makes these items expensive at the Auction House is the fact that they drop from elites, and thus not every player can get them easily.
Another thing that adds to the value is the fact that the drop chance for Dark Iron Ordinance is not even 100%, meaning that even if players manage to take down the elite there is no guarantee that the item will drop. While this drives the price up, it also means that it is more difficult to farm. However, this can be trivialized if you can find a friend who is willing to help with taking down the elite. What makes this method great is the fact that you can farm a bunch of blues and greens from this mob while trying to get the Ordinance.
Farming Madwolf Bracers
Madwolf Bracers are one of the best bracers you can obtain in the entire game for some classes. You can get it by farming Nightbane Vile Fang Worgens in Duskwood. The issue is, much like Dark Iron Ordinance farming, this one relies on killing an elite mob of a high level.
These worgens are usually between levels 28 and 30, making them very tough to solo for most classes in the game. However, you can get a bunch of nice BoEs and raw silver from doing this farm, so it is very much worth it. If you are a leatherworker you can also skin said Worgen to get Heavy Leather which also sells extremely well on the Auction House.
Questing at Maximum Level
You might think that after hitting level 25 you don’t need to complete quests anymore, but this cannot be further from the truth. Questing will provide you with a huge amount of gold for a while, even if it is time-consuming.
The only downside with this method (apart from questing just taking a ton of time in general) is the fact that you will eventually run out of quests designed for level 25 and this source of gold will cease to exist until the next phase hits. On the bright side, you can mix this method with other ones, such as leveling a profession to maximize your gold farming potential.
Leveling Professions
Much like in any version of the game, leveling professions will net you a bunch of gold, and the more in-demand your profession is, the more gold you will make. You can choose to be a gatherer, which is way simpler and less profitable than crafting but is always in demand, or you can become a crafter yourself, going through the arduous process of collecting correct materials and leveling your profession for more profit.
One combination of professions that we would recommend for making gold in particular is Tailoring and Alchemy. Bags are a way bigger deal in the Classic version of the game and SoD is no exception, so you will always be able to sell a ton of bags as a tailor. Another thing that is always in demand is consumables. Various potions and flasks are constantly in demand, so rolling an Alchemist will give you a huge boost in gold.
As you can see there are many ways to line your pockets in SoD, and our Season of Discovery gold farming guide covered some of the most profitable ones. However, if you still don't feel like spending a ton of your time on the grind, and just want to enjoy the game, we offer a solution. You can simply use our Season of Discovery gold farming services to save yourself a ton of time. You can find out more about them here.
