World of Warcraft Forever Paladin Class Guide
This World of Warcraft Forever Paladin overview walks through everything that changed for the class. It covers the Paladin's strengths and weaknesses, the systemic class changes that apply to every spec, how Holy, Protection, and Retribution each evolved, the talent changes across all three trees, the best professions and gear priorities, and which races make the strongest Paladins.
WoW Forever Paladin Strengths and Weaknesses
Paladin's core strengths are unmatched raid utility through hour-long Blessings and Auras and genuine viability in all three roles, while its main weakness is a single Mana pool that has to cover healing, damage, and utility at once.
Strengths:
- Hour-long Blessings and Auras: Blessings and Greater Blessings now last 60 minutes instead of 5, and the Fire, Frost, and Shadow Resistance Auras now protect the whole raid instead of just the Paladin's own party
- Seal of Fury makes Judgement automatically taunt an enemy for 4 seconds, giving Protection reliable threat without extra button presses
- No forced seal-twisting: Judgement no longer consumes the active Seal, though Twist of Light still lets Retribution weave seals intentionally when it wants the damage
- Strong self-sufficiency: Lay on Hands now sits on a 20-minute cooldown instead of 1 hour, and Holy Strike gives every spec a free baseline melee attack from level 6
Weaknesses:
- No reliable interrupt: Hammer of Justice is a stun, not a spell lockout, so it can't shut down every caster
- Mana funds healing, attacks, and utility from the same pool, so aggressive ability use in Retribution or Protection can run a Paladin dry mid-fight
- Melee specs have no gap closer or baseline speed boost, leaving them exposed against anything that kites
- Blessings from different Paladins can stack on one target, but a single Paladin can keep only one Blessing on it, because applying a second replaces the first, so a raid with one Paladin gets only one Blessing
Paladin Class Changes in WoW Forever
Paladin receives several systemic changes in WoW Forever that apply to every spec, reworking its core toolkit without changing its identity as a hybrid.
- Holy Strike is a new baseline melee attack learned at level 6, dealing 25% weapon damage at rank 1, rising to 50% at rank 8, plus a flat Holy amount that scales with Spell Power on a 10-second cooldown
- Judgement no longer consumes the active Seal, and its debuff now lasts 40 seconds instead of 10 (except Seal of Justice)
- Blessing of Kings and Consecration are now trainable baseline at level 20 for every spec, rather than being locked behind a talent point
- Blessings and Greater Blessings last 1 hour instead of 5 minutes, cutting rebuffing dramatically
- Divine Shield now reduces all damage the Paladin deals by 50% while active, instead of slowing attack speed
- Lay on Hands cooldown is reduced from 1 hour to 20 minutes, though the armor bonus from the old Improved Lay on Hands talent was removed
- Resistance Auras (Fire, Frost, and Shadow) now protect the whole raid instead of just the Paladin's own party
- Undead can now play Paladin on the Horde side, a race-class combination that didn't exist in Classic
Paladin Specs in WoW Forever
All three Paladin specs keep their Classic role, but Protection and Retribution both received overhauls that give them tools they were missing.
- Holy replaces the old Holy Shock capstone with Light's Vigil for stronger group healing, and gains Infusion of Light, which lets Holy Shock and Flash of Light critical strikes shorten the next Holy Light's cast time
- Protection gains Seal of Fury, a tanking seal that deals 35 damage plus 10% spell power as Holy damage on hit and grants a shield worth 50% of the damage dealt; its Judgement deals 153 damage plus 45% spell power and taunts the target for 4 seconds. Templar's Bulwark backs it up with an absorb shield equal to 100% of maximum Health for 8 seconds, at the cost of a Forbearance lockout afterward.
- Retribution supports two viable builds: a seal-twisting build centered on Twist of Light, and a "Shockadin" build that invests heavily into Holy for a Holy Shock-focused playstyle alongside baseline Consecration
Paladin Talents in WoW Forever
The three Paladin talent trees keep their Classic layout and point budget, but numerous talents were rebalanced, new talents fill gaps in each tree, and several Classic talents were folded into baseline abilities or removed outright.

Best Paladin Profession in WoW Forever
The strongest profession pairing for most Paladins is Mining and Blacksmithing, since Blacksmithing produces Plate armor and melee weapons that suit every spec.
- Mining + Blacksmithing: crafts Plate armor and melee weapon upgrades that fit every spec, with Mining funding the leveling costs
- Herbalism + Alchemy: produces potions and elixirs for sustained leveling, without direct gear upgrades
- Engineering: provides strong trinkets and utility gadgets that benefit any spec, best paired with Mining for materials
- Cooking and First Aid round out the list as secondary professions, offering stat-boosting food and self-healing items for any spec
Paladin Equipment in WoW Forever
Paladins wear Cloth, Leather, and Mail armor from level 1, and can train Plate armor at level 40. They can equip Shields and use Librams in their Relic slot.

Paladin Stat Priorities
Each Paladin spec follows its own stat priority order, listed from most to least valuable below.
|
Spec |
Stat Priority |
|---|---|
|
Holy |
Healing Power > Intellect > MP5 > Critical Strike > Haste > Spirit |
|
Protection |
Spell Power > Hit Rating > Stamina > Defense Rating > Armor > Block Rating (early leveling favors Weapon Damage and Strength instead, before Seal of Fury's Spell Power scaling comes online at 60) |
|
Retribution |
Weapon DPS > Hit Rating/Expertise > Critical Strike > Strength and Spell Power (close, with sources split on which edges out) > Intellect |
Paladin Races in WoW Forever
Paladin remains locked to a small pool of races, with Human and Dwarf on the Alliance side and Undead as the only Horde option following WoW Forever's addition of Undead Paladins.
- Human (Alliance): Sword Specialization grants 2% critical strike chance with swords in both melee and spellcasting, The Human Spirit adds a 5% Spirit bonus, and Will to Survive and Perception round out its active racials
- Dwarf (Alliance): Mace Specialization grants 1% critical strike chance with maces, Stoneform removes bleeds, poisons, and diseases while reducing physical damage taken, and Find Treasure and Big Game Hunter are its other active racials
- Undead (Horde): Cannibalize restores health and mana from nearby corpses, Touch of the Grave gives spells and attacks a chance to drain health from the target and heal the Paladin, Will of the Forsaken removes sleep, fear, and charm effects, and Underwater Breathing extends submerged time
What is the Best Race for Paladin
Undead is the default pick for Horde, since it's currently the only race available for Horde Paladins, and its Cannibalize and Touch of the Grave racials give it strong self-sustain while leveling. For Alliance, Human edges out Dwarf for most specs: Sword Specialization's 2% critical strike chance applies to both melee swings and spells, which benefits Retribution's weapon damage and Holy's Holy Shock crits alike, while The Human Spirit's Spirit bonus feeds Holy's mana regeneration. Dwarf stays a solid alternative for Protection, where Stoneform's damage reduction and status-effect removal outweigh the smaller crit bonus for a tank.
