Destiny 2: The Final Shape Overview
The Final Shape is the new expansion of Destiny 2, which will set players on a journey into the Pale Heart of the Traveler for a final showdown with The Witness. This new destination, a realm of infinite possibilities born from the Light and Darkness, is the first linear area in Destiny 2, offering a clear path for players to follow. The Pale Heart, designed to feel both familiar and unsettling, becomes more dangerous as players venture deeper, with new secrets and activities unlocking post-campaign. In this overview, we will take a look at all the new features and changes that are being added to the game with Final Shape and outline the most important ones.
New Supers and Aspects
In The Final Shape, the signature Light subclasses are enhanced with new Supers and Aspects.
Solar Warlocks gain the Song of Flame Super, obliterating enemies with overcharged abilities and buffing allies' Solar weapons. Their new Aspect creates a Solar Soul to burn enemies from a distance.
Void Titans introduce Twilight Arsenal, summoning three Void axes that disintegrate enemies and can be picked up by nearby Guardians. Their Void Aspect creates a moving shield that absorbs and releases energy in a massive attack.
Arc Hunters become more agile with Storm's Edge, a Super that involves throwing an electrified dagger for teleportation and whirling strikes. Their Arc Aspect propels them further into the air to apply damaging effects.
Prismatic Subclass
In "The Final Shape," players will start with a fully complete Prismatic build, including a range of Light and Darkness abilities, Aspects, and a complete set of Fragments. New Destination - The Pale Heart
The Final Shape introduces a new campaign set in the Pale Heart, a mystical realm inside the Traveler. Players revisit locations from previous DLCs, guided by Cayde-6. The campaign features a new enemy race called the Dread, with various enemy types wielding Darkness powers.
Exotic Class Items and New Weapons
Exotic class items are introduced, rolling with two exotic perks from other items, offering unprecedented build crafting possibilities. Players can acquire these items through a new activity that unlocks after the World First raid clear. The expansion also brings new Exotics and weapon subfamilies, including the fusion rifle Tessellation and returning classics like Khvostov, and Red Death. Bungie also teases new weapon types, including support weapons and homing rocket sidearms.
The Final Shape Raid - Salvation's Edge
The Final Shape features the raid Salvation's Edge, launching on June 7, 2024. This raid serves as the grand finale of the Light and Darkness saga. Bungie has also confirmed that two dungeons will be released during the year.
Post-expansion, Destiny 2 will transition from a seasonal model to an episodic approach. The first three episodes—Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy—will consist of three six-week acts each. These episodes will focus on the consequences and aftermath of The Final Shape, offering new quests, rewards, and activities. Each episode will include an Exotic weapon, missions, activities, and artifact mods, with season passes providing additional content.
